Deuteronomy 6

These are the Commandments, the laws and the statutes which Mar-Yah your Alaha commanded me to teach you, so that they may know them in the land that you are entering to inherit,

so that you may fear* Mar-Yah your Alaha and keep all his Commandments and his laws and his judgments which I command you and your sons and your grandsons all the days of your life so that your days may be long.

Israel, be careful to observe them so that it may be good for your people and multiply greatly, just as Mar-Yah the Alaha of your ancestors promised to give you a land that is flowing with milk and honey.

Hear, O Israel: Mar-Yah is our Alaha, Mar-Yah is one.

You shall love Mar-Yah your Alaha with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

These words that I command you today – they shall be in your heart;

and you shall teach them to your children and discuss them when you sit at home and when you walk down the path, when you lie down and when you rise up;

you shall bind them on your hand as a sign, and they shall be a symbol on your forehead;

you shall write them on the doorposts of your house* and on your gates.

Then, when Mar-Yah your Alaha causes you to enter the land which He swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, he will give you large and splendid cities, which you did not build;

Also houses full of good things that you did not fill; and wells that you did not dig; and vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant, so that you can eat until you are satisfied.

Be observant that you do not forget Mar-Yah your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt from the house of slavery.

You shall fear Mar-Yah your Alaha and worship him, and swear by his name.

You shall not follow other gods of the gentiles that are around you.

For Mar-Yah your Alaha is a jealous Alaha in your midst, lest the anger of Mar-Yah your Alaha be kindled against you and you are driven off the face of the earth.

You shall not anger Mar-Yah your Alaha as you angered him when you provoked him.

But you shall keep the Commandments of Mar-Yah your Alaha, his testimonies and his laws which he commanded you.

Do what is good and right before Mar-Yah your Alaha so that it will be good for you and so that you may enter and take possession of the good land that Alaha swore to your ancestors,

and so that he will destroy all his enemies from before you, as Alaha said.

And in the future when your son asks you, What is the meaning of the testimony of the Law and the decree that Mar-Yah our Alaha commanded you?

You will answer your son: We were Pharaoh’s servants in Egypt, but Mar-Yah brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

Mar-Yah did signs and wonders and great evils on Egypt, on Pharaoh and on all his household before our eyes.

Mar-Yah brought us out from there in order to bring us in and give us the land that he swore to our ancestors.

And Mar-Yah commanded us to observe all these laws with reverence* before Mar-Yah our Alaha so that it would be good for our people every day, even as this day.

Then it will be our righteousness when we keep and do all these commandments before Mar-Yah Alaha as he commanded us.
