In the beginning Alaha* created the heavens and the earth.
And the earth was chaos, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of Alaha brooded* over the face of the waters.
Then Alaha said: Let there be light. And there came light.
And Alaha saw that the light was good; then Alaha separated the light from the darkness.
And Alaha called the light day and the darkness night. And there was evening and there was morning one day.
And Alaha said: Let there be a distinction between the waters to seperate the waters.
And Alaha made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse. And that is how it came to be.
And Alaha called to the expanse of the heavens and there was an evening and there was a morning on the second day.
And Alaha said: Gather the waters under the sky in one place, that there may be dry land. And it came to be so.
And Alaha called the dry land Earth and all the waters seas. And Alaha saw that it was good.
Then Alaha said: Let the earth bring forth plants, herbs that yield seed according to its kind, and let a fruit tree bear fruit according to its kind, which was sown on the earth. And it came to be so.
And the earth brought forth plants, herbs yielding seeds according to their kind, and trees bearing fruit according to its kind. And Alaha saw that it was good.
And there was an evening and a morning, a third day.*
And Alaha said, There shall be lights in the firmament of heaven to distinguish between day and night, and there shall be signs and seasons, days and years.
And they will be like a lamp in the firmament of heaven to give light on the earth. And so it will be. And it came to be so.
And Alaha made two great lights: the great one to rule the day and the little one to rule the night, including the stars.
And Alaha established them in the firmament of the heavens to shine upon the earth,
to rule the day and the night, and distinguish between light and darkness; and Alaha saw that it was good.
And there was an evening and a morning, a fourth day.*
And Alaha said: Let the waters flow with living souls, and let birds fly over the earth above the firmament of the heavens.
Alaha also created the great sea monsters and all living things that move, of which the water was full with various kinds, and each bird according to its type. And Alaha saw that it was good.
And Alaha blessed them, saying: be fruitful and multiply; fill the waters of the seas, and the birds will multiply on the earth.
And there was an evening and a morning, the fifth day.*
And Alaha said: Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kind, cattle, reptiles and beasts of all kinds. That’s how it was. And it came to be so.
And Alaha made the animals of the earth according to their kind, the cattle of their kind, and every creeping thing of the earth according to its kind. And Alaha saw that it was good.
And Alaha said: Let us make man in our image, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over the cattle, and over every beast of the earth and over the reptiles that crawl along the earth.
Therefore, Alaha created man in his image, in the image that Alaha created them; male and female he created them.
And Alaha blessed them saying: Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the cattle, and every living thing that creeps on the earth.
And Alaha said: Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed to sow in all the earth, and every tree bearing fruit bringing forth seed, to serve as food.
As for every beast of the field, every bird of the sky, and every creeping thing on the earth that has a living soul, every green herb shall be used for food. And it came to be so.
And Alaha saw all that he had made, and saw that it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.*
